Ohhh, reccing other people's fic, eh? Time to trawl through my bookmarks and look for the ones that are woefully under-praised. This may take a while...

1. A New World, by Achiasa at AO3 (Rita/Estelle, Tales of Vesperia, rated "teen and up"): Anyone who has played Tales of Vesperia...and, I guess, doesn't mind non-explicit femslash? it says teen, but it's pretty much PG...should read this. Seriously. Like, this person captured so much about the game's world, expanding on it in ways that I envy, and everyone's in character. AND IT ONLY HAS TWO COMMENTS. Including my own. Someone needs to fix this.

2. Achilles Heel, by Mithrigil at AO3 (Hunger Games, rated M for violence): This is basically the story of Finnick's first entrance into the Hunger Games, the one where he was the 'winner.' It is impressive mainly because, for me, I honestly forgot that it was fanfiction and not a prequel written by Suzanne Collins herself. Possibly even better. It has 20 odd comments...43 in total, but half of those are replies from the author...and deserves many more.

3. Since The Roof Fell In, by [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum (Kevin Jonas/Brendon Urie, Bandom, rated R.): Much like my self-rec of the Twilight fic from yesterday, this story is somewhat of an anomaly. Reason #1: The main POV character is one of the Jonas Brothers. I don't even really like the Jonas Brothers...nothing against them, I'm just a bit outside of their target demographic and they're not my cup of tea. Reason #2: I normally am bored by post-apocalyptic fic. Not sure why, since I tend to like books in that setting. Maybe it just isn't done well very often? Reason #3: ...Well, the pairing is weird, right? But anyway, it's pretty good, and has a VERY low amount of comments for bandom fic, with about 10 comments (not including the author's replies or back-and-forth conversations, which still only totals 23) in the final section.

(As a side note, when I first read the above fic, I wasn't familiar with bandom yet, hardly at all. I'm not sure how I imagined each of the characters, but I'm pretty sure it was far off from reality. XD I still liked it though, enough to bookmark it.)

Okay, so. I think I'm going to try to do some of this Snowflake meme thing, because it's supposed to be about empowerment or feeling good or some such thing and I could use that lately...bear with me, I'm hoping this all makes sense but I just drank a glass of Pinot Grigio and I'm feeling a little wooooo~ right now. Ha.

So, Day 1, I'm supposed to rec things that I wrote and am proud of and think more people should read. Here we go. [Note: The titles are links, if it's not obvious. My current theme/colors on Dreamwidth makes it look a bit ambiguous from my end.]

1. Precipice (Firefly, Mal/Inara): I wrote this for the LJ comm [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic, where on this particular day's theme I was supposed to write a fic based on a poem from the prompter. Consequently, the resulting fic ended up being more poetic than my usual stuff...it's short, but I feel like I packed a lot in there.

2. Never Fades (Tales of Vesperia, Yuri/Flynn): Not sure if it's because it's so short, or because my updates on main ff.n stories like Glass Fortress had slowed down or what, but this (along with the Rita/Estelle comment fic posted with it on my writing journal) only has a handful of comments. But I'm quite proud of what I did with this Zaude retrospective. (I have a thing about the emotional impact of Zaude on Flynn, I guess. There are at least 2 such fics in my favorites list on fanfiction.net. :P)

3. Like Chasing a Wolf (Twilight, Jacob/Edward): Ahahaha, yeah. I never in a million years thought that I would write Twilight fic. But this particular prompt ("Who needs Bella Swan after all?") struck me for some reason, lines jumped into my head, and I just had to write it. (...Yes, I know too much about Twilight for someone that thinks it's horribly written and ridiculous. Shush.) Anyway, I'm proud of this one partly *because* I think the source material sucks. I didn't just take the easy way out and mock it. I took the parts of the world/story that were compelling to me, and ran with it.

...I need to write more this year. I miss it.

Ahem. This is a test entry. 'Cause my Dreamwidth looks kind of empty and I want to see what one will look like. XD ...I haven't uploaded icons yet, though. Hmm, I think I still have some floating around in my Documents folder. /goes to look
